Since the November meeting was so late in the month and since Advent and Christmas are busy times for everyone, we will not meet in December.
January's meeting will be on the 25th in the rectory at 7:00 PM. We'll read the next seven chapters of Heretics.

October Meeting
In this post, I am going to explain to you when the October meeting will be and what will be read. We will read The Great Heresies, including the chapter on Protestantism, which is fitting as October 26, when we will be meeting at 7:00 PM, is Reformation Sunday. To understand why will meet on October 26, one must also understand the social and historical milieu in which the decision to meet that day was made....
later in this post, we will talk about the November meeting, but now I will explain the October meeting. The October meeting will be on the 26th at 7:00 in the rectory. We will finish Belloc's work.

September Meeting
It was an enjoyable to change the format of the meeting in August and watch a video of Dr. Dermot Quinn speaking at the Beaconsfield Chesterton Conference. We will also be doing something a little different for our September and October meeting: reading a non-Chesterton work, The Great Heresies by Hilaire Belloc.
The link I've included above is a pdf version of the page found on the EWTN site. It will be easier to keep track of quotes and such if we all follow this edition for our meeting, but there is also a site that has the text files of the book, but the formatting is not very good. There is no free Kindle edition (though one is available for $.99, and isn't that G.B. Shaw pictured with that edition?), nor is there an edition available through Project Gutenberg, and of course, you can always get ahold of a print copy from a bookstore or the library.
So, his dictis, we will read the the introductory materials and the first two heresies--the Arians and the "Great and Enduring" heresy of Mohamed. We'll meet on September 7 at 7:00 PM.

The New GKC Biography
From Ellen Finan from the next Society to the east:
This is a good read. It goes beyond the standard book review and makes some interesting points of its own. Also brings in what other literary critics have to say about GKC, including Harold Bloom.
From the June 2014 New Oxford Review. Thanks to Anita Gorman for the link.

January Meeting
The January meeting is schedule for January 12 at 7:00 PM. We will be reading The Surprise (the not adapted for television version).
The plan is to do a dramatic reading and to discuss each act (or maybe scene) as we finish it. We may not even get through one act.
